Do you want to work with a professional but light hearted team who’s biggest goal is to create the most magical convention experience for everyone?
Magicon is always looking for more volunteers who are passionate about the Cosplay and nerd community. People who are willing to put in some work to create something truly magical.
As a part of the Magicon crew you get to influence and build each convention throughout the year. We’re a mixed bunch for sure, from long time managers to students, cosplayers and non-cosplayers, from full time nerds to people who don’t even like Star Wars (it’s just one guy, we’re working on him, don’t worry). This gives us the spectrum of experience and creativity to come up with a wide array of content for everyone.
Info Crew:
A cosy crew focusing on communication and marketing. Maintaining all our SoMe’s and making sure the visitors get all the information they need. There’s graphical work, text writing, planning promotions, designing artwork etc. This is the crew for those who love SoMe, interacting with the community, have a creative mind and are good at planning ahead.
Tech Crew:
Our smallest crew. Magicon usually hires professionals for our Tech needs, but we still need people in our team who have the know-how to communicate with these professionals. Naturally there’s a lot our volunteers don’t know about technical equipment, so this crew supports them. This is the crew for those who have above average knowledge about AV equipment, have good communication skills and love to enable the community to look their best on stage.
Security Crew:
Security is many things, but mainly preemptive planning. How shall we do thing X so that issue Y won’t happen. We want the convention to be safe for everyone, so if you see something that’s not right, contact one of them and they’ll know what to do. This is the crew for those who have a lot of empathy, consideration, compassion and work well under pressure.
FeelGood Crew:
The name says it all. These guys are a lot of fun, and well, that’s their job. They make sure the crew is having a great time, not only at the convention, but throughout the entire process of making it. They also look after our invited guests, make sure they have everything they need and so on. Finally they also do their best to look after the visitors. This is a crew for those who are socially intelligent, extroverted, creative and know what to do when someone does not seem to be having the best of times.
Event Crew:
Creates almost all the content for each convention. Coming up with the programme through months of research and planning, contacting and maintaining relations with potential guests, planning content down to every little detail and executing it all during the convention. This is the crew for those who have a lot of time to contribute, want to shape how the convention will be and who’s a problem solver with a “yes we can” attitude.
We have regular social gatherings, casual online gaming sessions, outings, training programs, a Project Academy and other fun activities.
As a crew member* you’ll of course get a t-shirt, food, snacks and drinks, work experience, a professional reference to put on your CV, our greatest appreciation and hopefully the community’s eternal appreciation.
