Cosplay does not equal consent – you should treat people respectfully regardless of the type of costume or cosplay that other participants have chosen to portray. Touching is only allowed if consent is given.
You can only take pictures of people with their consent.
Costumes should at a minimum cover genitalia and nipples, keep in mind that MagiCon is an All Ages event. Security will keep this as the number 1 priority when considering individual costumes.

You’re responsible for your own behavior and the consequences of your actions.
Free hugs:
We welcome everyone who wants to give out free hugs, but there are some rules:
- Signage is required
- If you have a sign – people can approach you and politely ask for a hug
- Do not approach visitors asking if they want a free hug, this can come across as intrusive and make people feel uncomfortable.
- Everyone should be able to enjoy themselves and not feel obliged to hug anyone just because they are wearing a sign. Many visitors have also spent a lot of time on their costumes and make-up, and don’t want to risk messing it up by hugging someone.
Costumes and Props:
Be aware of your surroundings, look out for other participants or objects/props. Many cosplayers spend a lot of time and energy producing their cosplays and you can be held liable to compensation if you break these.
Upon entry to the Venue, all costumes, props and personal property are subject to a security check. This is to ensure that costumes and props don’t go against MagiCon’s rules and guidelines, or in any way poses a threat to safety at the Event.
