Danny McFly Cosplay is an award-winning cosplayer and judge well known for his detailed armor builds, enormous muscle suits, and hyper-realistic SFX makeup, as well as his YouTube tutorials. As a guest, he is known for going out of his way to make attendees feel appreciated and welcome. In the past decade, he has created over 50 highly detailed costumes, with a focus in foam, silicone/plastic, and alternative material fabrications. Danny cosplays what he loves — From superheroes and his internationally acclaimed Batman cosplay, to video games and his award winning World of Warcraft armors, to animation and the acclaim for his Hyper-Realistic DragonBall Z costumes.
He has judged at several of the world’s biggest international cosplay contests. Having honed his skills competing, Danny now uses his experience in cosplay crafting as well as his education in dance and vocal training, to select only the most worthy of contestants. Being an international competitor and cosplayer himself (In 12 different countries and counting), he understands how unique a contestant and competition can be, and strives to tailor-fit every judging opportunity. Above all else, Danny believes that everyone who cosplay’s is amazing and should never stop doing what they love. He is happiest when contestants feel at ease sharing their costumes, exploring their process, and receiving constructive feedback.
Danny also honed his skills as a professional cosplayer for companies such as Blizzard and Universal. He acts as a cosplay ambassador, working closely alongside corporations for marketing and promotional purposes (such as the release of Hearthstone, or the Warcraft movies).
Recently, he partnered up with the renowned Makeup artist Sendy Kumalakanta, to push cosplay to the next level with the combination of professional makeup and Costume making, bringing the audience such characters as Popeye and Android 16 from DragonBall Z. They have more prosthetic makeup projects planned for the near future, such as Majin Buu, Puri Puri Prisoner, and many more.
Utilizing his experience organizing panels and hosting competitions, Danny has also started running his own events, HanamiCon and YuniCon. His experience in knowing how to connect with attendees has catapulted these new conventions to fan favorites within his country. Outside of the cosplay world, he also enjoys nurturing a friendly competitive spirit by producing custom made trophies for contests and coaching and training the future generation of cosplay contestants. Danny enjoys meeting new people, attending a good party, and always tries to see the best in any situation. His dream is to continue to travel the world, meeting wonderful people, and spreading the love of cosplay.
